Version 2.0.00

Solitude is perfection. It is the one point in space and time where one must shun all pretence, whether aquired voluntarily or involuntarily, and revel in the nakedness of the only reality, the reality of one’s own mind.

To the world, anyone can be anybody, provided he has the will and the drive. However, to oneself, the only person one can be is oneself. Try as one might, there is no way one can escape the glare of the calm, undistracted and all-pervasive sub-conscious.

Actually, there is a way. The way is to always remain occupied, so occupied that there is no time for thought to be permitted to disturb one's daily routine. And when, rarely, such an unacceptable time may arrive, to find someone, anyone to remain distracted. In the absence of mortals, one may take refuge under the very able hood of technology. Not only does it allow us to distract ourselves to no end by entertaining ourselves but it also facilitates interaction with other people, people whom we would never have even heard of in an ordinary, but now very ancient, way of life.

Today, the majority of the populace finds solitude a scary, even frightening proposition. A loner is considered a loser. And rightly so, might I add.

What’s amusing is that the ‘loner’ considers all the, if I may take the liberty of calling them that then, ‘socially over-active’ people (from his point of view, of course)losers. Preposterous indeed. Well, the loner is the one who is alone right. The ‘socially over-active’ populace has friends who would truthfully vouch for the fact that they are not losers. It is the ‘loner’ who is the loser. In fact, these friends would also, on more occasions than not, claim that they are perfect, whereas the ‘loners’ are weird.

To that, the ‘loner’ has only one statement to make. Spend a day in solitude. Awake, alert and without any sort of distractions at all. Just you and your thoughts. Sanity at the end of the (again, if I may call it that, then) ordeal will separate the winner from the loser.

Who will win, is anybody’s guess. Or is it?
